When walking works best in the peninsula

When walking works best in the peninsula

Walking works well around the central Macau peninsula, where several landmarks are close together. The Holy House of Mercy is about a 3-minute walk from the hotel, while Dom Pedro V Theatre and Mercado de S. Domingos Municipal Complex are each about a 5-minute walk away.

For a short outing, continue on foot to Largo de Santo Agostinho or the Pawn Shop Museum, each about a 6-minute walk from the hotel. S. Francisco Garden and Praça de Ponte e Horta are each about a 9-minute walk away. The Security Forces Museum of Macau is about an 11-minute walk from the hotel.

These stops can be grouped into a walking outing rather than making separate short bus trips. For a fuller sequence through the historic centre, use this one-day Macau itinerary from the historic centre as a planning reference.

Using buses for longer cross-city trips

Using buses for longer cross-city trips

Macau buses can help with longer cross-city trips, and DSAT’s connections from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge port show how routes and transfer points fit together. Bus 101 operates all day, while routes 102 and 103 have more limited service hours. The fares for those local connections are MOP 6 in cash or MOP 3 by prepaid card.

If you are travelling outside the service hours of routes 102 and 103, take route 101 to a peninsula transfer point, such as Praça de Ferreira do Amaral, then change to a daytime or night bus for Cotai or another district. Check which route serves your destination and whether you will need to transfer before setting out.

Approved electronic bus-payment options include Macau Pass, MPay, BNU Pay, UnionPay QuickPass, Alipay and WeChat Pay. Ride codes under the mainland China and Hong Kong Alipay and WeChat services cost MOP 6 per ride and do not receive fare or transfer discounts. Payment methods and route details can vary by service, so confirm the applicable terms for your journey.

From Barra, the Taipa Line serves Ocean, Jockey Club, Stadium, Pai Kok, Cotai West, Hengqin, Union Hospital, East Asian Games, Cotai East, MUST, Airport and Taipa Ferry Terminal stations.
